The Kookaburra was a common visitor to my garden when living in Carina in QLD. with two large Gum Trees on my property. One day a family of them came to visit me, and the parents brought the young ones down to sit on the railing of my wooden deck. They both flew back up into the tree tops, and left the five babies with me, and I standing wondering what was going on. I got the feeling they were fed up, and wanted me to feed them. So I went inside to find something to feed the little ones. I sliced very finely some Sheep heart which I fed my Cat with, making the slices look like worms. I walked over to them and dangled the pieces of meat from my fingers near them. To my surprise all five of them opened their beaks gently and let me hand feed them. This was certainly a privilege for me. And as they stayed there with me for a good half an hour, I went back inside to get my camera. I was able to take photos of them all. I couldn't believe how trusting they were of me. I liked this photo with the blurred green back ground colours.
